Your Assessment

You must share your health information to the team members. Your health directly effects your treatment. Please let the staff members know if you’re symptomatic at any time during your treatment. Please let them know of any medical problems that occurred between your dialysis treatments for example: If you were short of breath, had chest pain and/or bleeding.

It is important that your blood pressure be taken in both a sitting and standing position before and after your treatment. Changes in your blood pressure from a sitting to a standing position are very significant. If you plan on walking out of the dialysis center, you must have a post treatment standing blood pressure to assure your safety in walking. There have been occasions when patients have passed out due to a very low blood pressure. In order to prevent an accident from happening, you and the staff need to know your blood pressure is stabilized before you leave the unit.
